History:

The I-207"3" was developed from the I-207"1" and "2", but still did not satisfy the demands for performance from a fighter in 1939/40. To try and gain extra speed the "3" was fitted with two I.A.Merkulov DM-4 ramjets in 1940, around 20 flights were made, but the high fuel consumption and high drag of the ramjets ment the idea was not continued with.
