History:

At the beginning of 1944 Heinkel was persuaded to start work on a new four engined jet powered bomber using a 1.5 enlargement of the Ar 234 as a basis.

By 14/3/1944 the planes were submitted to the RLM and given the designation He 343. The RLM order 20 aircraft and work started on the V1 prototype soon after.

But in November 1944 the whole program was stopped, in favour of the Junkers Ju 287. All finished components and jigs were put into storage, it is thought however that the V1 was completed by Heinkel and tested regardless.
